Plan 9706Temporary Winter Back-draft Damper
A temporary winter back-draft damper allows for a fan to provide automatic temperature control in the winter while all other fans are completely sealed. The damper is a five-sided box with a hinged baffle mounted in its bottom. The open side of the box is clamped to the wall over the fan. Inside damper dimensions depend on the size of fan and mounting frame. The damper is weather stripped or caulked along the building wall and held in place by a strap or cord. Fan suction causes the bottom baffle to rise, but it falls when the fan stops.
