Plan 9312Plate Beams and Lintels
This leaflet contains design information on plate beams and lintels for low-human-occupancy farm buildings. Plate beams are an important structural component of pole frame buildings. Located at the top of the wall, they support the rafters or trusses between the poles. A lintel (or header) is a plate beam that supports roof loads at openings in load-bearing walls.
